Summer camp of reindeer herders

The films that are shown here give an insight into the life of the Korjak reindeer herders of the Karaginski district during the summer grazing season. For the recordings for this documentary Erich Kasten and Aleksandra Urkachan traveled from Tymlat to the interior of Northern Kamchatka. The short film documentaries first give an impression of the usual transport conditions there. Then the reindeer herding team tells about their various activities with the herd, which is illustrated by film recordings of their activities. Thus, one learns about their grazing methods, the processing of a slaughtered reindeer and especially about the treatment of the dreaded hoof disease as well as about other aspects of the everyday life of a reindeer herding family.

Für die Aufzeichnungen zu dieser Dokumentation fuhren Erich Kasten und Aleksandra Urkachan von Tymlat in das Landesinnere von Nord-Kamtschatka. Die kurzen Filmdokumentationen vermitteln zunächst einen Eindruck von den dort üblichen Transportbedingungen. Сначала они дают представление об обычных условиях перевозки.
