Travel to the reindeer-camp
This film shows the journey from the village of Tymlat on the northern east coast of Kamchatka to the reindeer camp of the Ninvit family at the time of summer grazing. Erich Kasten and Aleksandra Urkachan had the opportunity to join one of the regular food and equipment transports to the interior of the peninsula, which are carried out by All Terrain Vehicles due to the rough terrain. After loading the vehicle from a large warehouse on the coast, the hour-long ride through impressive landscapes was accompanied by countless swarms of mosquitoes and several families of bears. Fixing common vehicle breakdowns gives insight into the drivers' skills as mechanics. Shortly before the reindeer herder camp, which must be moved every 3-4 days with the reindeer moving on, food is deposited at a central depot – well secured against bears and other wild animals.
